Original Paintings Made into Jewelry
Ananda Khalsa draws inspiration from Asian art, natural forms and cultural symbolism. Her painted images are rich in symbolic meaning. In Japan e.g., the plum blossom represents rebirth and renewal, and the koi fish is a symbol of strength and courage.
Each of Ananda's jewelry pieces contains an original acrylic painting on Japanese water paper. She sets the painting behind hand-ground glass into fine and sterling silver. Because she paints each piece individually, they are all unique with slight variations. She works with both silver and 22 karat gold, and often finishes her jewelry with semiprecious stones.
What an incredible talent with such attention to fine details!
